ABOUT THE AUTHOR

FROM CLINICAL SOCIAL WORK TO CHILDREN’S BOOKS: CRAFTING STORIES THAT TURN EVERYDAY AUTISTIC EXPERIENCES INTO EXCITING ADVENTURES.

I am a clinical social worker turned children’s book author. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Nelson Mandela.

With twelve years experience working in statutory and therapeutic practice, I have started the journey of writing children’s stories that reflect the lived experiences, strengths, and sensory worlds of children living with autism.

The stories strive to ensure that children living with autism are heard, understood and acknowledged as the heroes of their own stories, while helping parents, family, peers, and educators build genuine empathy and understanding.

The Mission

To foster a more inclusive and compassionate environment for children living with autism by normalising how they see the world, and how others can be a part of their discoveries.

The Goal

To build awareness and desensitize everyday autistic behaviors for peers and adults alike. This became a strong passion for me after noticing behaviors in my son when he was two, and later advocating for him to be understood and accepted for who he is.

🌟 When I’m not writing: You can find me building LEGO with my son, researching random fun facts, or binge-watching a good series.
